RESULTS Vitality London 10000 2022 ➤ [+ Photos]

With around 20,000 male and female participants, the Vitality London 10000 is one of the largest 10-kilometre road races in the world.

On 2 May 2022, the starting gun was fired at 10 am at St. James's Park for the fastest 10-kilometre race in the UK.

The Vitality 10,000 has been held in London since 2008. Some world-class runners have won the race in the past. Mo Farah is one of them. The multiple Olympic champion also achieved the fastest time ever in this race in 2010 with 27:44 minutes. In the same year, Mary Keitany also set a course record with 31:06 minutes.

Top local runners at the start

After the Vitality 10,000 was held in July last year, the event returned to its usual date in the first half of the year this year. For 2022, top local runners Eilish McColgan and Charlotte Purdue, among others, had made their commitments.

Mo Farah concedes defeat

After missing the 2021 Olympic Games, four-time Olympic champion Mo Farah was also unable to convince at the Vitality London 10,000. Because with a time of 28:44 minutes he had to settle for second place. Ellis Cross was four seconds faster. Third-placed Mohmud Aadan also finished under 29 minutes. In total even 15 athletes managed a time under 30 minutes.

2 seconds short of the national record

In the women's race, Eilish McColgan not only won in 30:23, but also set a new course record. She was the first athlete to run a time under 31 minutes in London. McColgan missed Paula Radcliffe's British record by just two seconds.
