Running in Luxembourg - All Races 2024 [Running Calendar]

Although Luxembourg is one of the smallest countries in Europe, there are some terrific endurance sports events here.

A trip to the country, which is surrounded by Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium, is therefore definitely worthwhile for sports enthusiasts.

The biggest running event in Luxembourg

The ING Night Marathon Luxembourg, or "Luxembourg Marathon" for short, is known far beyond the country's borders. This is one of the very few internationally important marathons that start in the evening. The marathon was held for the first time in 2006, at that time still under the name "Europe Marathon". The starting signal for the marathon race is given at 19:00. About 1,500 runners will compete in the marathon. For comparison: In Austria, there is only one marathon event with even more marathon runners, the Vienna Marathon. The crowd puller at the Night Marathon, however, is the half marathon, where as many as 7,000 male and female participants reach the finish line. In Summ, the ING Night Marathon Luxembourg with all the supporting events has more than 10,000 starters. Date is annually at the end of May or beginning of June.

Triathlon in Luxembourg

But there is also a really big triathlon in the small country. The IRONMAN 70.3 Luxembourg - Région Moselle has been part of the worldwide IRONMAN 70.3 series since 2013. In the half-distance race, the more than 2,000 triathletes have to swim 1.9 kilometers in the Moselle River, bike 90 kilometers on the beautiful bike course in the Remich countryside and then run three laps through Remich. The triathlon is held in June.
