With the end of summer, the range of running events also increases massively.
After all, the cooler temperatures are ideal for participating in endurance sports events. Unsurprisingly, the offer of half-marathon races in September is gigantically high.
Big half marathons in the USA
In the USA, the Chicago Half Marathon has a large field of participants. In addition, many marathons also feature half-marathon races. Some well-known races are the Big Sur Trail Marathon, the Kauai Marathon, the Aif Force Marathon, the Cheyenne Marathon and the Akron Marathon.
From the city to the countryside
With so many running events to choose from, we'd like to recommend one or two half marathons in September. There is, for example, the Düsseldorf Half Marathon on the Kö or, to put it briefly, the Kö Run. This traditional race has been held for over 30 years. The quite beautiful route leads the runners in early September, among other things, through the Hofgarten and in the lively district Carlstadt. Another beautiful city half marathon is the Kiel Run. This race in Schleswig-Holstein has also been held for several decades and welcomes thousands of runners every year.
As is well known, all good things come in threes: As a third recommendation we have the Altötting half marathon. If you want to run outside of the big city and still want to achieve your best times, you definitely can't go wrong with a participation in the "fastest natural run in the world". But while we're on the subject of nature, we still have to bring a fourth run into play. Because the Tegernsee run is also in no way inferior to the half marathon in Altötting.
Outrageously fast through the Wachau
Interestingly, the Wachau Marathon does not focus on the marathon. Because the field of participants is significantly larger over the half marathon distance. And the international top stars also compete over the 21.1 kilometers at the running event in eastern Austria. On the fast half marathon course, the course record is even under 60 minutes.
