With around 30,000 athletes, the Antwerp 10 Miles running event is one of the biggest sporting events in Belgium.
On October 10, 2021, the event celebrated its comeback after a two-and-a-half-year break. The running event was first held in 1980. In the meantime, it has become one of the largest 10-mile runs in the world.
The running events
Every year, around 26,000 runners take part in the ten-mile race. Several thousand more athletes take part in the Short Run over five kilometers and the Kids Run.
The fastest athletes need less than 50 minutes for the 16.1 kilometers. Two years ago, Belgian Nick Van Peborgh won after 48:42 minutes. This year, Michael Somers was the fastest with a time of 47:45 minutes. Defending champion Van Peborgh followed behind Isaac Kimeli in 3rd place. In the women's race, Nina Lauwaert finished first after 56:51 minutes.
