Summer in Austria has a lot to offer. Of course, mountain and trail runs dominate, such as the Pitz Alpine Glacier Trail. This ultra-trail in the Pitztal valley reaches an altitude of up to 3,000 meters. The longest competition over more than 100 kilometers can only be successfully completed by a few athletes due to the demanding route. Another classic in Tyrol is the Karwendelmarsch incl. Karwendellauf. The 2,500 starting places are usually fully booked several months before the start.

In the Schwiez region, too, there is a huge selection of magnificent scenic runs: We can especially recommend the trio Glacier 3000 Run, Sierre-Zinal and Matterhorn Ultraks. The Glacier 3000 even involves running over the glacier at an altitude of almost 3,000 meters. The ambience at the Matterhorn Ultraks is also incredibly spectacular.
The most famous trail run in the world
The most famous trail race in the world is also held at the end of August. There, of course, we are talking about the Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc in Chamonix (France). The longest run has a length of about 100 miles. It is run at the foot of the highest mountain in the Alps, Mont Blanc.
